Position Overview:

The Accounting Manager plays a critical leadership role within the Finance department, overseeing the general accounting operations, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting, and maintaining a strong internal control environment. This individual will supervise a team of accountants, coordinate audits, and partner cross-functionally with departments such as operations, HR, and executive leadership.

The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, technically strong in GAAP, comfortable with evolving systems, and passionate about developing high-performing teams. This is a highly visible role that contributes directly to strategic decision-making and long-term financial health.


Key Responsibilities:

Leadership & Oversight

  • Manage day-to-day accounting functions, including general ledger, accounts payable (AP), accounts receivable (AR), fixed assets, payroll accounting, intercompany transactions, and accruals.

  • Supervise and mentor a team of accounting professionals; provide coaching, performance management, and career development support.

  • Lead process improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency, scalability, and internal controls.

Financial Close & Reporting

  • Own the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes, ensuring completeness and accuracy of financial data in accordance with GAAP.

  • Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, and variance analysis.

  • Produce timely financial statements, management reports, and dashboards for internal stakeholders and leadership.

Compliance & Controls

  • Ensure adherence to internal policies and external regulatory requirements (e.g., GAAP, SOX if applicable, tax filings).

  • Support annual financial audits, including preparation of audit schedules and liaison with external auditors.

  • Maintain and enhance the internal control framework to safeguard company assets.

Planning & Forecasting

  • Assist with the preparation and review of annual budgets and periodic forecasts.

  • Partner with FP&A and business units to analyze financial results and provide insights for strategic decisions.

  • Evaluate financial trends, risks, and opportunities to support operational planning.

Systems & Process Optimization

  • Work with IT and other departments to optimize accounting systems and ERP performance (e.g., NetSuite, Sage, SAP, or QuickBooks Enterprise).

  • Lead or support system implementations, upgrades, and automation initiatives.

  • Create and maintain standardized procedures and documentation (SOPs).


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA or MBA strongly preferred).

  • Minimum of 5-7 years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 2-3 years in a supervisory or managerial role.

  • Solid understanding of U.S. GAAP, with hands-on experience managing month-end close and financial reporting.

  • Strong technical accounting skills, including reconciliations, consolidations, and multi-entity reporting.

  • Proficient in ERP/accounting software (e.g., NetSuite, Sage, SAP, or equivalent), and advanced Microsoft Excel skills.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to partner across teams and levels of the organization.

  • Strong project management and time management skills; ability to meet tight deadlines while maintaining accuracy.

  • High integrity, professionalism, and attention to detail.


Preferred Experience (Optional):

  • Experience in a multi-entity, multi-state, or international company structure.

  • Background in construction, manufacturing, real estate, professional services, or nonprofit sectors.

  • Exposure to financial modeling, KPI development, or business intelligence tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau).
